Welcome to William (Liam) Mysterious Woodard's corner of the internet. Right now it's themed as a wizard tower. Before that it was themed as personnel quarters on a space station. I don't expect to retheme it soon, but one day I'm sure I will.
So to find your way here, you may have sat down to a cute table and chair set after having gravity shift on you considerably. If so, please enjoy a beverage of your choice which has appeared on the coaster in front of you while reading this text off of a leaflet you found on the table.
You may have taken a look at the pinboard in my study, in which case feel free to realize that behind and around each highlight listed here are copious notes and design scribbles where I sort out the details.
Or you found your way here from the greater web, maybe we met on fedi, or perhaps you found me on the now page directory run by Derek Sivers, who inspired this page's creation. In which case, welcome to this choose your own adventure style silliness.
If you followed a link on your rss feed, a quick reminder; this page changes often, without a log! So it's only going to have whatever is actually happening now on it, no matter when the link hit your feed. Whatever I was up to then has been lost to the sands of time, unless I wrote more about it on some other page.
I'm at what I'm hoping is the tail end of three weeks recovering from the last time I overworked my shoulder. That means I'm doing as much of the RecoveryRompwod as I can do without causing any further damage.
I follow printed workout guides that I design for myself and set up using typst! I have written more about it here. It's a in-progress project and I expect I will continue to expound on the experience as time goes on.
I am trying something out this year, BINGO! It was fun to set up, we'll see if it sticks in any significant way.
Work on the library continues. The storage bench is installed, and now is storing some things. We are making a plan for v2 of the front panels, and have one top panel that needs work as well, but it's currently in a reasonably functional state.
Baseboards are painted! We're sooo close We just need to borrow a nail gun and get them installed!
Additionally, we finally decided it was time to put some insulation in the attic. There's still a bit more electrical work before we can add insulation everywhere, but over a couple of the bedrooms seems likely to do some good. I've installed 2 bags of rockwool insulation, and have another ready to put in once my shoulder decides to cooperate with me again.
I knew that rockwool sold itself as easy to install, but I will say I was impressed. If the beams in our attic were 16 on center, it would have been extremely simple. As it was, it was still pretty easy to do.
Boiler update: The screaming has appears to have stopped, though I did have to buy more of the oil and continue to top it up, and catching up from probably ~8 years of not adding oil to that system without overoiling it is took a bit of time. Hopefully it continues to be a happy camper and I remember to top up the oil in coming years!
After sitting with this piece of writing (warning, I nearly cried, and I know many of my friends did): https://sightlessscribbles.com/the-colonization-of-confidence/
and many other folks's writings on how bad things are getting on the internet, I finally set up an RSS reader, because I want to consume as little slop as possible, and hopefully start doing more with this site as well.
In this vein, I've set up an rss feed for this site! I don't even really know what it's gonna look like yet, as I'm using vimwiki's rss generation from the "diary" part of the standard wiki set up, but I figure I've got to start somewhere!
I've been trying to strike a balance between keeping up with current events and not destroying my mental health.
.. As a trans person living in the USA, this has been a struggle.
Heck, as a person living in this country, that's a struggle.
So, if you're sitting in the lounge at the top of the stairs, it's probably time to Choose a doorway.
If you're looking at my pinboard, find something else in the study to look at.
If you've only just arrived, I encourage you to begin at the beginning.
Oh, and this page was last updated 2026-01-16
