Welcome to William (Liam) Mysterious Woodard's corner of the internet. Right now it's themed as a wizard tower. Before that it was themed as personnel quarters on a space station. I don't expect to retheme it soon, but one day I'm sure I will.
So to find your way here, you may have sat down to a cute table and chair set after having gravity shift on you considerably. If so, please enjoy a beverage of your choice which has appeared on the coaster in front of you while reading this text off of a leaflet you found on the table.
You may have taken a look at the pinboard in my study, in which case feel free to realize that behind and around each highlight listed here are copious notes and design scribbles where I sort out the details.
Or you found your way here from the greater web, maybe we met on fedi, or perhaps you found me on the now page directory run by Derek Sivers, who inspired this page's creation. In which case, welcome to this choose your own adventure style silliness.
If you followed a link on your rss feed, a quick reminder; this page changes often, without a log! So it's only going to have whatever is actually happening now on it, no matter when the link hit your feed. Whatever I was up to then has been lost to the sands of time, unless I wrote more about it on some other page.
Both I and another clown here each had a death in the family back in May, and things have been full of processing and managing of everything to do with that since. Things are starting to settle down again some now.
The current hurdle is incorporating a significant amount of inherited furniture and other items into the layout of things in the building.
I'm mostly recovered from that overworking of my shoulder, but I'm still taking it easy and focusing on doing a slightly edited RecoveryRompwod, as I've been doing a lot of physical things for other projects and I don't want to overwork it. I intend to get the paperwork matching the workout again soon.
I follow printed workout guides that I design for myself and set up using typst! I have written more about it here. It's a in-progress project and I expect I will continue to expound on the experience as time goes on.
I am trying something out this year, BINGO!
As of this update, I've filled in 10 of the squares, and have worked on many more. We still have to schedule Dumpsterfest, but we are on track to have one, and when we do I'll have succeeded in at least one BINGO, which is pretty exciting.
Given that I was pulled off-track from my expected year for a good two months, I'm very happy with my current results.
I have noticed though, that in trying to work on making new pages for the website, I've been neglecting this Now page, so I'm going to be changing what my goals are for here moving forward. Haven't settled on a specific one yet, but I know that that goal isn't working how I wanted it to.
The library is almost completely done, it's really just missing the panels for the bench, and maybe a curtain and tie back for the closet. I'm all set to sew a mock up of the front panels as soon as I can find a moment for it.
The #sunrisePottyDoor is still underway, really just waiting now for us to get the framing fixed up and get hardware on it. My clown partner has already done a great write up on this project here. You can also check out the license we wrote to put scans of the gelprints we made out into the world under here
This week has included much exploring of the various lower roofs of the building, in part doing an overdue clearing of gutters, and also checking the state of things and whether repairs or replacements may be needed. This naturally lead to spontaneous repairs to the back porch roof
#blaugust has me thinking about the community aspect of the indieweb. I don't feel like I participate in that very much. As the last few months have left me with very few spoons for communicating with anybody I think I'm going to focus less on the past and more consider what I want to do about that in the future. The uptick in posts coming in on my RSS reader does inspire me to try to write more here too, which I appreciate.
A few friends and I are learning Perl! It's a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to sharing the couple of projects I've been working on.
Expect to see an updated Nudge and some fitlang related shenanigans shared soon!
I've been trying to strike a balance between keeping up with current events and not destroying my mental health.
.. As a trans person living in the USA, this has been a struggle.
Heck, as a person living in this country, that's a struggle.
So, if you're sitting in the lounge at the top of the stairs, it's probably time to Choose a doorway.
If you're looking at my pinboard, find something else in the study to look at.
If you've only just arrived, I encourage you to begin at the beginning.
